BIOGRAPHY
Linnea Torstensson was born in Eskiltuna, Sweden, and began her handball career in the nearby town of Strängnäs - playing for the junior team before graduating to the senior side. In 2004 she made her first big club move, joining Skövde; three years later she signed a professional contract with GOG in Denmark, but the move was short-lived due to financial problems at the club, and Torstensson rejoined Skövde.
Denmark still came calling, however, and in 2008 Torstensson did finally move to join Aalborg and then Midtjylland (now Ikast). With the latter club Torstensson had her first European experience, winning the EHF Cup in 2011.
But it was with CSM Bucuresti that Torstensson would really make her name on the European club scene. She joined the Romanian side in 2014 and two years later helped them lift the EHF Champions League trophy in their famous victory on penalties against Györ. Torstensson did her bit in both defence and attack in that game, scoring three goals.
For the Swedish national team, Torstensson played 175 matches and netted 654 times during her career, which lasted 11 years from her first jersey in 2005 to retirement after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. She won two medals - EHF EURO silver in 2010, and bronze in 2014 - and was named MVP of the EHF EURO 2010.
Since 2017, Torstensson has been a handball commentator on Swedish TV.
