BIOGRAPHY
Petra Cumplova-Khekhova is one of Czechia’s best-ever players, shining on the left wing for her country in five World Championships and two EHF EUROs. She was named handball player of the year in Czechia three times over the course of her career.
Cumplova, who was born in Prague, started out playing for DHC Slavia Praha but soon moved to Germany where she spent the rest of her professional career. She won the German Cup with Bayer Leverkusen, adding to the Czech championship and Czech Cup won in Prague.
Cumplova appeared 206 times for the national team and scored a huge 939 goals over her career.
She officially retired in 2006, by which point she was commuting between Czechia and Germany to play for Neustadt. But after her children got old enough, Cumplova took up the sport again and still plays for Tatra Střešovice for fun. Her sons both play handball too.
Cumplova has also represented Czechia at beach handball.
