First meetings for EHF commissions

The European Handball Federation technical commissions met at the EHF Office in Vienna over the weekend 7/8 September 2012, the first full meetings for the newly elections commissions since the EHF Congress in Monaco in June 2012.

Meetings were held by the Competitions, Methods and Beach Handball Commissions as well as the Technical Delegation, made up of the chairs of each of the commissions as well as members of the EHF Office from the related departments.

The commissions dealt with a range of topics relating to the next four year period and each began the process of developing a four year strategic plan of activities, under the slogan: “What European handball should be like/needs in 2016.”

The Competitions Commission reviewed the summer programme of Younger Age Category events in Austria and Turkey, and looked ahead to the new season and beyond, including the European Cup as well the Women’s EHF European Championships in Serbia in 2012 and the Men’s and Women’s EUROs in 2014. Qualification to both IHF and EHF events over the next four years was discussed.

The successful referees’ workshop in preparation for the Women’s EHF EURO in Serbia was also highlighted. Additionally the further development of female and young referees was agreed as well as future co-operation with the new Women’s Handball Board.

The Beach Handball Commission dealt with planning and innovations for the European Beach Handball Championships in 2013 in Denmark as well as future changes in regulations for the European Beach Tour. The further development and education of beach handball delegates was also discussed.

The Methods Commission met to begin their planning for the next season and the next four year period, topics included master coach licensing and development projects. The future technical development of the game was also discussed, including additional scientific support required as well as player and coach inputs.
