World Championships draw in Oman

The draw event for the 2012 Beach Handball World Championship was conducted in the Shangri La Hotel Muscat, Oman, on Monday evening.

24 teams from all continents – each twelve men’s and women’s teams including in total ten European teams - have qualified for the IHF Beach Handball World Championship.

The tournament will be played 8 – 13 July at Al Musannah Sports City in Oman, the venue of the Asian Beach Games 2010.

The results of the draw, in which Croatian Olympic and World champion Mirza Dzomba was the special guest:

Women’s tournament:

Preliminary Round Groups:

Group A: Croatia, Denmark, Italy, China, Uruguay, Australia

Group B: Norway, Brazil, Hungary, Thailand, Poland, Singapore

Men’s tournament:

Preliminary Round Groups:

Group A: Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, Oman, Morocco, Australia

Group B: Croatia, Egypt, Spain, Qatar, Uruguay, Kuwait

The World Championship includes in total 112 games, 61 in each of the men’s and the women’s tournament. Both tournaments start with each two groups of the preliminary round with six teams each, followed by the Main Round, Placement Matches, Semi-finals and Finals on 13 July.
